BUDGET VOTE: Add library to reimbursement program. ($250)
Vote to add Library to reimbursement program: vote outcome: YES. This will increase the Arts budget to $1,250 and be included in the reimbursement program.
Discussed in detail how most of our events work, most of the families who attended were new to Lincoln.
Dan Thompson, presented the outdoor improvement plan and addressed the need for volunteers to help with the garden work party on 10/18. The sign up sheet was passed around. Starting with getting the garden boxes installed. 10/18 we will be digging up the sod to install gravel that is being purchased with outdoor improvement funds. The next step of the project is installing the garden beds and to get them filled and ready for spring planting. Native plants will also be planted in the surrounding areas.
Julie Bowman went over upcoming events and presented volunteer opportunities
Upcoming events are Makers Bazaar, Lincoln Lights, and Holiday Market. Holiday market is our biggest need for volunteers. Julie discussed how to sign up to be a volunteer and be cleared by the district.
Jennalee went over makerspace, sports, craft club, & solar club.
Makerspace: Maker space is an alternate recess option for students during the colder/rainy months. Every class gets 3 passes each day that teachers facilitate. Kids have the opportunity to craft to their hearts desire. There are also sensory bins and legos. We are stocked with lots of cardboard and things for kids to hot glue to make their creations. Not currently accepting donations. We are planning on opening at the beginning of the year after the holidays.
Sports: Historically the district has brought Volleyball, Basketball and track to all elementary schools to encourage kids to be active and learn what they like. Last year Basketball and track were cut, only leaving track for 4th-5th graders. Last year LPSG voted to fund Volleyball and Basket Ball and to start including 3rd graders. K-2nd grade will also have sport opportunities this year, more details to come.
Craft Club: This club was started last year by a student who wanted to crochet with their friends after school but had to stop because of the weather. 60 students signed up! Craft club will be returning this year. Kids will have the option to do a guided craft or bring along their own crafts to work on. Crocheters will also be welcome and work separately.
Solar Club: Ran by Clark Public Utilities, students will be on a team and work together to build a solar car. At the end of the program each team will race their cars against other schools at Hudson’s Bay. This is a very popular club/event that students love. Jo Sargent has agreed to run the club again.
