General Meeting Minutes 3-12-26

General Meeting Minutes  3-12-26  5:30 pm in the Lincoln Library

Board Members present: Jennalee Garcia Montero, Nicole Hryciw, Skyla Boivin, Jenny Grimaldi

General Updates:

  • Families helping Families has been really successful. Judit facilitates getting gift cards to the families in need. The QR code is still active with a zeffy link to donate.

  • Friday Fun Update - We won a contest through the Harlem Globe Trotters. Our video scored in the top ten nationally and we won $1,000. We have been able to purchase supplies for recess; giant frisbees, bubble machine, hula hoops, nerf footballs, foxtails, etc. It is wheeled out on a cart on Friday afternoons. It has been really fun for the kids and paras. The paras are excited to continue to grow this project with low balance beams, and want to add in double dutch jump ropes so the older and little kids can work together.

  • Executive Board Member changes - Julie Taylor stepped down as Treasurer. Dan Thompson has gone through the process of applying for the vice president position with teacher recommendations and paperwork. Skyla and Jennalee have been running a co-presidency, and we were able to shift roles mid year to be able to add in Dan. Skyla and Nicole have taken on the responsibility as treasurer for the remainder of this year, giving us a complete team. Applicants can find access to look into LPSG roles on our website under the about us section.

  • Basketball for 4th and 5th grade has been really fun and has had a great turnout. This year it has more boys than girls, but they all seem to be enjoying it. The skilleree event is March 26th.

  • Craft Club has been really successful. We have 53 participants! A para is helping with the crocheters which is about a third of the group and we were able to purchase crochet hooks for them. There is a craft of the week that they can take home. Many kids participate in the guided craft, while some are sketching and socializing. We would like for the time to be extended to 3:15 pm next year. There are 3 dates left.

  • Blazers Game Nights - You can contact Julie Bowman to be put on the list to get tickets for a Blazer Game. Tickets are free but does not include parking. It is being offered to Staff, Paras, and bus drivers as well. We have reached out to the WNBA to also have that to offer and represent the women’s team to our students.

  • Kindness Cards - We implemented a new event this February, to coincide with Valentine’s Day and kindness month. Similar to traditional “candy grams”, this fundraiser involved sending a kind note to a friend, teacher, or family member with a small toy and candy attached. We sold 90 grams, and made sure that every student received one from the LPSG. It was very heartwarming to see what the students wrote and sent to each other.

  • Makerspace -  Thanks to Skyla and Jenny for running Makerspace and keeping it active for the school. It is a really special place that allows for an alternative to recess and a safe place for students to be and create. Popular supplies we are in need of; feathers, googly eyes, glue sticks, pipe cleaners, fabric scraps, yarn, markers, etc. Most items are welcome to be dropped off that would otherwise be recycled such as egg cartons, cardboard boxes, yogurt containers, etc. It runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11:10-12:30 if you would like to come volunteer.

Logger Report:

  • We are planting over 20 trees on April 23rd with the 5th graders to be in conjunction with Arbor Day. The green team is continuing work on the pollinator garden and are also pursuing avenues to get a vegetable garden. We want to keep the momentum going to improve our outdoor space. A parent (Alex) has connections at Urban Abundance for donations as well as Dan Thompson with the master gardeners.

  • Preschool - The preschool plan is in a holding pattern until we find a certified preschool / sped teacher.

  • We don’t know what will happen with the staffing shortages for next year. Principal Graham hosts coffee with the principal and may be able to shed some light on that for next year.

5th grade committee:

  • Two fundraisers happening; next week is the Burgerville night on 3/18 and all proceeds will go to the 5th grade graduation fund

  • Flyers have gone out for the Club’s Choice flower ordering fundraiser

  • The 5th grade students will have 5 days of fun at the end of school to send them off.

  • The bbq is on the last day of school 6/12.

Ways to Give-

  • Families helping Families program is still active.

  • Field Trip Scholarship - When a permission slip comes home and has an option to sponsor a student, it will go to that specific field trip. The office is always collecting donations for the general field trip fund. All Saints Change for Change has raised $71, which needs a vote. Voted unanimous to put it into the scholarship line fund. We also have a scholarship fund at LPSG level, that helps with sports and craft club.

Loggy Job- There is the opportunity for moving and dressing “Loggy”, many kids are interested in that job, along with delivering the mail.
