Introductions:
Principles Report (Craig Homnick):
2 Levy's on the February ballot - to maintain programs and services

Education and operations levy (funds things like classroom supplies, text books, equipment, programs, special services, sports, extracurricular activities....etc.)

Technology Levy (would maintain or renew the iPads in grades 3 through 5 and laptops in grades 3 through 12. For years 2020-2025

No new taxes. Just to maintain programs and services that we already have in place.

Q: are these levies that expire?
A: these are expiring 2019. These will be in effect 2020-2023.

Haven't lost a levy for VPS since 1964. Lincoln neighborhood typically the higher yes votes in all of Vancouver public schools. Technology Levy is going to be $0.31 per $1,000 of assessed property value. The education and operations Levy is a dollar fifty per thousand dollar of assessed property value. These two levies are up for vote in February. Need two parents on Monday December 17th, 4 to 5 p.m. at warehouse 23 - citizens committee for good schools will be there.

Still a Title I School. Means that more than 50% of our kids qualify for free or reduced lunch, allows for extra money to have more para-educators. One of the requirements is to have a parent participation plan. *Read plan aloud*.

A: Not currently. Someone suggested showing the videos during literacy night/performance.

LPSG Updates:

Scholastic book Fair: We did very well. Approximately $3,400 made, $200 bonus, and if Mrs. Lewis decided to do another book fair she would receive a larger percentage or BOGO. Was 50/50 it would go up to 65/35.Usually we do the Barnes & Noble book fair but it's a lot of work for the teachers and to also put on student performances. Worked very well to do it during the conferences. Vancouver Pizza company coupons were also very popular.

Spirit Wear:
A few weeks ago we ran in online spirit wear store. We sold 51 items over the course of two or three weeks. We hope to get them before Christmas break. Should arrive at the school on the 10th of December. Will do it again in the spring.

Box Tops:
Fall box tops raised $226 which is more than we made all last year. There will be another submission in the spring.

Fifth Grade Promotion:

Did a licorice sale. Supplies were $48.67, made $73.25. 1 1/2 tubs of licorice left oh, we'll probably do another one soon. Tried bath bombs. 12 kids participated and they sold $1,328 worth. The profit was $531.20. Waiting to receive the check from bath bomb people. The kids also receive their t-shirts. In January they'll have another 5th grade meeting. Amanda mentioned that everything is already booked. Ian needs to be called because the dates changed. DJ is not done. Photo booth and speaker still in question. They have
about $700 after fundraising.

Q: Do we have any plans for a Son Event?
A: There is a date set aside. Someone suggested science theme, someone else suggested bowling.
Long discussion about hosting sun event at a bowling alley... pros and cons. Food and bowling cost
was an issue. it was suggested to just do a party package at the bowling alley. Also talked about

Treasurer's report:

Jo Sargent not available due to illness. Liberty presents:

· Teacher budget -should have numbers for teachers in terms of their classroom breakdown. LPSG gives money to teachers each year. In October, the State and district provide student attendance. We use the total number of students to indicate how much money each teacher will receive for the year. Teachers may receive money before next general meeting.

Fall fundraising:

· Switched from cookie dough to Pay Back books due to complications and issues with kitchen space. Product was thrown out and upset parents. Payback books have no shelf life. Orders are still trickling in. As of Friday we sold 425 books equals $4,250 compared to $5,500 from cookie dough last year.

· Any problems with orders, see Liberty. Prizes sent in by Pay Back representative, he will deliver it as soon as they arrived. No firm date. We will distribute.

Student Store:

· Liberty - Student store opens this Friday. Related to PBIS which is the Positive Behavior Intervention Support. Slips (logger bucks) come from the buses, teachers, and staff. Can spend at student store to buy school supplies. Each slip is worth $0.10. Can spend with cash or with slips. Open from 8:35a.m. - 8:55pm. Need one or two parents to help with that along with one board member typically on Fridays.

Communication:

· Teresa - how to better communicate. Websites to automate and streamline some processes.

· Would like the website to include: All info shared in these meetings. What is lpsg about - About page. Volunteering. Typical roles. Form for signing up. VPS process and an LPSG process for volunteering. FCRC section. Links for parents and resources for students that link back to the VPS website. Fundraising - the ways we fundraise. Calendar - iCal. Ways to pay and donate.

Fifth Grade Committee:

· Nicole - Last year started fundraising. money from carnival vendors $230 vendors gave 20% and their tips. Bath sorbet - Bath bombs they get 40% of the sales. October through November with 2 week turnaround. Liquor sales once a month?

Q: Do they pre-order it?

A: Yes, fill orders and get by the end of the day (licorice)

· Another fundraiser idea is a Bunco night fundraiser for parents.

· Shirts to order so kids can have all year-long.

· Community services to set up 5th grade meeting.

· Fifth grade teachers had sheets at back to school nights for sign ups. Anyone can be on 5th grade committee. Meetings with kids to find out what they want.

· Liberty - maybe get 4th grade parents to be on the committee. The LPSG brought the 5th grade under our umbrella to benefit from our title 1 nonprofit status. $600 seed money from LPSG. Year book place picked out.

Q: What is bunco?

A: Dice game where it rotates around tables. Fundraiser presale tickets paying to win prizes.

Key dates:

· Thanksgiving feasts - Thursday before Thanksgiving break. Traditional Thanksgiving food. Need parents to serve. We take money but not an LPSG event. Need to connect with kitchen manager to hash out.

· Santa's workshop:

· Using a different company than we used in the past. Last year was in the library. Library time and shopping time. Evening of winter program which is December 19th for K - 2nd and December 20th for 3rd - 5th. Open 45 minutes after concerts. Kids bring money to buy gifts. Will need volunteers for that.

Q: JennaLee - Not a positive experience as a kinder teacher. Some kids didn't get to shop because they had no money during library time. Had to watch their peers shop.

A: If kids need assistance, the company we're considering working with have a system in place where schools can have items for students who can't pay.

· Now in Library. Used to be in the art room but needed a common space that could remain setup. Student store to blend with Santa's workshop for students who can't pay?

Request the attendees sign signup sheet.

Closure meeting ended at 7:34 p.m.
